  Discover Cape Town – May to September

If you’re planning a holiday in the Cape, or as a local are wanting to explore some previously undiscovered attractions, there is no longer any need to restrict yourself to the peak tourism periods during the summer months of October to April.

The traditionally "off-peak" period between May and September in the Cape has been revitalised with the introduction of the Secret Season campaign to attract visitors to greater Cape Town. The campaign aims to promote greater Cape Town and its attractions to locals and visitors, by offering special packages and discounts during this period.

The winter months are traditionally a quiet time for the tourism industry, so Cape Metropolitan Tourism has created an opportunity to attract people to the greater Cape Town region. If you ask any born and bred Capetonian, they will argue that winter is often Cape Town’s best kept secret, hence the theme.

The main points of difference between this and other initiatives that have been tried in the past, are the value for money packages to Cape Town, as well as the use of self-guided tourism routes. Routes such as the Waterfront Heritage Route and the Beer, Wine and Cheese route, are ready to be explored, while an Adventure route, a Children’s route, a Ghost route and several others will take people to some of the ‘secrets’ of greater Cape Town.
